  • What are logical reasoning tests?

Logical reasoning tests examine how well you can put your logical thinking skills to use through a series of different challenges. Most commonly, you’ll see a variety of shapes or sequences and you’ll be asked to find the rule or pattern that connects them all. These questions can be either deductive, inductive or abstract.

Deductive questions are about showing how you take something general and make it specific, inductive is the exact opposite, and abstract is about finding the simplest or most likely answer from a series of general observations.

The test is undoubtedly challenging, tech firms wanting to recruit the best minds wouldn’t have it any other way, but by practising logical reasoning tests beforehand, you’ll get to grips with the style and format of the questions, not to mention improve your speed and focus.

  • Why do employers use logical reasoning tests?

Employers across a huge variety of sectors will use the logical reasoning test to assess pools of applicants competing for the same job.

In the tech sector, an ability to problem solve, think logically and work well under pressure is highly valued - so employers will want to see you can make a success of the test if you’re to go further in the application process.

The test can also help employers to differentiate between people with similar experiences; offering them a deeper insight into each person’s strengths and weaknesses.

  • What is the logical reasoning test format?

On most logical reasoning tests you’ll have under a minute to answer each question - so working quickly and keeping focus is key. You can expect to see questions related to different shapes, patterns or sequences.

Your job is to apply logic to the questions being asked in order to select the correct multiple choice answer. It’s quite a complicated art, and one that definitely benefits from practice. So make sure you take the time to go through a few tests so you get used to the different kinds of questions you could be asked.

What our customers say about our Logical Reasoning Tests

Relatively easy compared to other tests?

Had about 10min left when I finished. Not very challenging for the "FREE" exam given here... I logically presume the FREE TRIAL is probably not very realistic for a basis to compare and prepare for interview style logic questionaires.

Look out for more than one pattern

The test was very straight forward, I found it easy to understand. I also feel like they gave us enough time to answer all of the questions.

Quite interesting but little bit confusing

I like the sequence of shapes given to be interpreted which one should be the next. But it's also quite confusing to interpret it at a first glance.

    Patterns & Puzzles

I really enjoyed doing doing the puzzles and figuring out trends in the images given. At times, it was challenging, but it always feels great when you finally figure it out.
