During the application process, the hiring team will be assessing you on your knowledge of the company and industry. We recommend familiarising yourself with TPP's mission and aims, as this will help demonstrate your interest and eligibility for the role.

  • The placements are year-long programmes where a student will take a year out of university to gain hands-on experience in different areas of the tech industry.

Hiring Process At TPP

The hiring process at TPP is relatively simple compared to other employers and varies depending on the position you have applied for. For the majority of graduate positions, you will submit an online application, take a logic and reasoning test, and have a face-to-face interview.

For more senior roles, the logic and reasoning test will likely be replaced with a telephone interview.

You will be contacted after each stage of the application process to let you know if you have been successful or not.

Read on below to find out what is involved at each stage and how you can best prepare for it.

TPP Online Application

TPP's application process begins with an online application, where you will need to provide some personal details and some brief information on your education.

If your role requires you to take the logic and reasoning test, you will simply need to book a test by selecting the location you would like to take the test, as well as the date and time.

Applicants for roles that don't require the logic and reasoning test will have to upload a CV, which should be up-to-date and tailored to the role so you can demonstrate your suitability.

You will also have the opportunity to upload a cover letter, which can help to sell your application by showcasing information about you that is not on your CV.

TPP Aptitude Tests

What Is TPP Logic And Reasoning Test?

The TPP logic and reasoning test is an in-person assessment to measure a candidate's problem-solving abilities. It lasts around an hour and is taken at a location of your choice. The test does not contain technical or programming elements, instead, it is assessing your ability to interpret information, solve problems quickly and think logically.

Whether you take the test will depend on which role you are applying for.

A range of questions are included in the test such as basic mathematical problems, determining the odd item in a series or the next item in a series, and identifying the letter which completes a pair of words.

You can only sit one test within 12 months, so it is important to prepare to give yourself the highest chance of success.

We recommend preparing by taking practice tests, as this will help familiarise yourself with the style of questions, which will build your confidence going into the real test. You are not permitted to use a calculator in the test, so make sure you practice without one.

After completing the test, you will be contacted within 2 weeks with the outcome.

TPP Face-To-Face Interviews

If you are successful at the logic and reasoning test, you will be invited to attend a face-to-face interview, which will either be held at TPP's office in Leeds or your university if you are a student. Some candidates may also have a preliminary phone interview.

The interview is your opportunity to sell yourself to TPP, so make sure to demonstrate your skills and experience, as well as your enthusiasm and passion for the role.

You will likely be asked several competency-based questions, which require you to draw on real examples from your experience, education, or another area of your life. We recommend using the STAR (situation, task, action, result) technique when answering the questions, as this will help ensure you give concise and relevant responses.

Prepare by doing some research on TPP and the role you are applying for, looking at common interview questions, and practicing your interview techniques.

After the interview, you will hear back within one week on whether TPP would like to offer you the position.

What Is It Like To Work For TPP?

TPP offers great training and development that allows employees to develop both personally and professionally. A range of social events is available at TPP, such as Friday pub trips, board games, and sports teams, which help build relationships with colleagues and fosters a sense of community in the company.

Employees at TPP also enjoy a range of generous benefits such as a £200 birthday meal allowance, private health cover, and opportunities to travel.

Top Tips To Getting Hired At TPP

Practice Logic And Reasoning Tests

One of the easiest ways to prepare yourself for the logic and reasoning test is to practice sample tests as it is often the unfamiliar nature of the test that candidates find the most challenging.

By practicing sample tests you will familiarise yourself with the types of questions in the test, giving you more confidence going into it.

As the test features several different types of questions, we recommend that you practice a mixture of logical reasoning, numerical reasoning, and verbal reasoning tests.

Do Your Research

During the interviews, the hiring team will be looking for evidence that you are knowledgeable about the role, the company, and the wider industry.

Doing some research will prepare you with all the information you need to answer the interview questions effectively. You can find a lot of information on the company website and their social media pages.

You are also likely to come up with some great questions to ask during the interview if you do some in-depth research, which can help set you apart from other candidates.

Use Exam Conditions

If you can, try and take all your practice tests under exam conditions. This means taking them somewhere where you are free from distractions and having your phone notifications turned off. You should also set a timer so you get used to working under timed conditions.

This will help you get the most out of your practice as it will help you remain focused, and will better prepare you for the real test.

Answer All Questions (Even If Its A Guess)

The exam is based on the number of questions you get correct, so you should try to answer all the questions.

If you get stuck on a question, don't dwell on it too long as this could cost you extra marks if you run out of time to answer the other questions. Your best bet is to make an educated guess and move on to the next.
